Eco-Friendly Ways of Online Railway Reservation
Everyone is turning to the Internet these days, may it be to pay bills or to connect with people. Indian Railways has also turned to the Internet now to facilitate online railway reservation to its passengers. This method has ticket booking so much easier for the people.
I-ticket as well as e-ticket reservations are possible online. The i-ticket is one that can be booked up to two days prior to the date of journey. Such tickets reach the address, residential or official, provided by you, at the time of registration. On the other hand, an e-ticket is one that can be booked up to four hours before the departure of the train. These tickets need to be printed out and produced with an identity proof.
In order to save paper, Indian Railways has come up with a brilliant idea of producing virtual reservation messages as travel tickets. The ERS stands for Electronic Reservation Slip, which is the printout of the IRCTC message that appears every time a ticket is reserved. This slip contains all details pertaining to the travel and the passengers concerned.
The virtual reservation messages are screenshots of the ERS taken on your laptop, iPhone, iPad or any other electronic gadget. At the time of producing tickets to the TTE and on showing this screenshot along with required identity, the passenger can travel in the train without any further verification.
The railway of India is thus promoting the noble cause of cutting down the usage of paper and going green. Passengers must also therefore turn to these methods of online railway reservation to have an environmentally friendly world tomorrow.
